PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Located on Front Street in Woonsocket and designed by O’Hearne Architects, this $10m new mixed-use commercial/residential project completed in December 2005 includes more than 18,000sf retail space and 43 rental apartments, six of which provide supportive housing and seven of which offer “live-work” opportunities. In addition to the relocated and refurbished Champs Diner, the development has a 2,500sf community center which serves the residents who consist of households earning 50-60% AMI. The per-unit-cost came to $185,000 and units will rent at $180-850. Occupying 4.5 acres, the density of the development is 9.56 dwelling units per acre.
